Looking for an electric car that bears a Three-Pointed star, then this Mercedes EQC is the perfect car you want. In fact, this is the first produced under the technology and product ‘EQ’. The Mercedes-Benz EQ is an upmarket electric car that’s very comfortable to drive, is very spacious, and has a well-built cabin. The EQC looks like a slinkier, more elegant version of the traditional Mercedes SUVs.

True to its name, the EQC gives a high level of performance and comes with a well-developed and all-new drive system. It features compact electric drivetrains at each axle making it electronically torque-vectored four-wheel drive, giving the EQC a confident and sporty characteristic. Grille and headlamps are combined with a sleek black panel surface at the front, an arrangement accentuated by an LED Light Band at the top. The sweeping chrome grille flows into two narrow headlights, and at the sides, there is a curvier roof line and shapelier window openings. This EQC is actually 100 mm longer than the GLC model but still is a 5-seater.

The front motor has a less tightly wound stator for better operating efficiency, and the rear one is more tightly wound, for greater torque, but while cruising the EQC is exclusively driven by the front motor.

The EQC is equipped with the industry-advancing MBUX media system, and it responds to the driver’s natural conversational language. There is even a ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice control feature that understands commands in plain English, it lets you adjust cabin temperature, change the mood lighting, and set the standard sat-nav, this all can be done without even moving a finger.

The center display works as a touchscreen, but there is also a touchpad at the center console and some touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel.

The compact electric drivetrains at each axle deliver 402 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. It comes with an 80 KW lithium-ion battery unit. The EQ has the ability to fast charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 40 minutes, on a 50 kWh charger it takes around 75 for a full charge, and around 13 hours using a 7kWh charger at home.

It can go around 255 miles when fully charged. The EQC can manage 2.9 miles per kilowatt hour and can set a baseline of 150 miles from a charge and 1.5 miles per kWh. The front and rear motors are 204 BPH each. The EQC can go 0-62 mph in 5.1 seconds.

How safe it is to ride

The Mercedes EQC comes with a rear air suspension, with which it can automatically raise its backend when the boot is packed with heavy luggage. The feature ensures the headlights illuminate the correct parts of the path to provide a safe ride, especially during the night. The EQC soaks in the bumps and potholes very impressively, with the help of 21-inch alloy wheels, and can even take in the uneven roads in its stride effectively.

The advanced driving assistance system relieves you when you are on a long drive. This system helps the car accelerate, brake, and steer for you to keep you within the lane. The Mercedes’ all clever all-wheel driving system, can run into two-wheel drive mode to save range, depending upon the situation of course. You can even use the EQC’s regenerative braking at several levels, this uses the car’s cameras and radar sensors, and navigation data to build a picture of what’s ahead.

The Mercedes EQC comes in two trims, sport, and AMG Line trim. In The sport trim, you get a seat comfort package with lumbar support and front heated seats. You even get a 10-inch infotainment screen and ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colors.

This trim also comes with a safety driving kit, 19-inch alloy wheels, Led headlights, Blind Spot Assist, and Active Parking for £68,651. The AMG Line trim comes with 3 engines, 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG black panel radiator grille, leather sport seats, and carbon fiber trim.
